TEAMLAB:
ART WAVES OF DAZZLING COLORS
-
teamLab is a new media art team founded in 2001. It’s an international interdisciplinary art team that explores the intersection of art, science, technology, and nature in the form of team creation. The team consists of but is not limited to artists, programmers, engineers, CG animators, mathematicians, and architects.
Through art, teamLab is groping for the relationship between humans and the world to gain new insights. To better understand the world, human beings habitually segment the world and regard it as something with boundaries. teamLab explores the boundaries of cognition and tries to go beyond the boundaries of people’s perception of the world and the continuity of time. The works are in the permanent collections of major art institutions around the world, such as in the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney, the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, the Borusan Contemporary in Istanbul, and the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne.
This summer, at the coast of Shikoku, Japan, teamLab projected dazzling colors on the rolling waves, endowing the dynamic surfing movements a sense of artistic beauty. As the waves rose, the lights on the waves bloomed like flowers. One after another, the transient wavy moves of the sea gave the flower blooms on their rise and embraced the calmness when waves retreated.
