Out of all the key areas in Shenzhen that have been laid out in the SEZ’s 40-year development plan, Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base is one of the most high-end and iconic. It is estimated to attract a total fixed-asset investment of around 300 billion RMB. It is the first project in the city that operates on a Chief Designer System where the chief architect is responsible for a project’s overall construction. With many of the Fortune Global 500 such as China Merchants Bank, Evergrande, Hengli, Vanke and China Electronics relocating their headquarters to this area, Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base is not only an “Architecture Expo Park” created by the world’s top architects, but also the name card of Shenzhen that leads the way for it to become a global metropolis.

The architectural plans for 12 companies settled in the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base have been unveiled recently. Zaha Hadid Architects, Steven Holl Architects, Foster + Partners, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, Shenzhen Huahui Design, East China Architectural Design & Research Institute, and other renowned architecture firms both at home and abroad have been invited, among which gmp Architekten and Gensler have participated in the design of two projects respectively among the 12 planned landmarks. Part of the plans and rendering images have already been publicized recently.
